# Product copy

Write like the product already exists and the reader is busy.

## Voice

- Concrete over grand. “Copy a `.mdc` rule into `.cursor/rules`” beats “supercharge your workflow.”
- Second person is fine. First-person plural is for things we actually do together.
- Short sentences. Then a longer one when the idea needs it.
- Humor is dry and rare. Never punch down. Never invent a catchphrase.

## Forbidden

- Lorem ipsum, “Welcome to…,” “It’s not just X, it’s Y.”
- Fake metrics, fake customers, fake company names presented as real.
- “Seamlessly,” “robust,” “next-generation,” “unlock,” “leverage,” “game-changer.”
- Exclamation points in primary UI.

## UI strings

- Buttons start with a verb: Add to pack, Download zip, Copy rule.
- Empty states say what is missing and the next action.
- Errors say what failed and what to try. Do not blame the user.
- Tooltips add information the label cannot hold. They do not repeat the label.

## Pages

- The first sentence answers “what is this?” The second answers “why should I care?”
- Lead with the outcome, then the mechanism.
